[…] I admit I have always liked combinations. Commutations, arrangements and pure mathematical stuff. If you feel like reading there is more on my personal blog: A puerile-aesthetics theory of the permutational diversity for me. I spent 40 minutes yesterday reading ads invented with TheAdGenerator. I came across this thing on TechCrunch. A kid’s degree’s project. One takes semantic structures used in ads of our days, places the values of the moment, decorates it with pics taken from Flickr – chosen based on the similar tags and one has the ad. Now honestly speaking, they are not all good, but at least 100 per minute may be generated (that depends also on the connection). Can a copyrighter brag with such a prolificity? What does that have to do with what we are doing? Well, first of all there is a nice example of algorithmic of what may seem indefinable – human creativity at work. Of course, human creativity means much more in this area – coherent strategy, positioning etc, but we can imagine that after these have been defined, a computer can elaborate 1000 propositions using the brand values selected, from which the discussion can start. Second of all, it is a clear example of commodity brought by the technology – which before seemed a very rare thing can now be transformed into a routine action. And then you have to come up with a new secret sauce and other twenty condiments. Luckily Gödel proved that there are non-algorithmic zones of mathematics. When it will all be algorithmised, we should start inventing new theorems. BTW, a pretty cool stuff about the “mathematical ideas mining” is in Greg Egan’s Diaspora. Genial author! A must read for info geeks. PS. There is also a blog of the generators. And there is not much time left before a generator of generators. Wait, can it be invented a generator of foods, for instance. To select different ingredients and random condiments, after a table of similarities, of taste-associations etc and then generate a finite number of steps (thermical treatments, blending, chopping, boiling, grilling, freezing) and there you have the finite product. With three “solution horizons”: edible dish, tasty dish and divine dish. […]

Catalin, multumesc pentru consultatie, initial m-am speriat de ceea ce mi-ai raspuns, dar dupa ce m-am documentat asupra termenilor stiintifici ai diagnosticului, m-am linistit - sunt in parametri sanatosi .

“Jucatorul de sah al lui Maelzel” (E.A. Poe) m-a ajutat pe mine sa intuiesc calculele combinatorice asemanatoare cu combinatiile de nume ale Creatorului.

Nu, nu imi place ghiveciul pentru ca nu imi place ghiveciul. Nimic filosofic. La gradinita am avut parte de prea multe ghiveciuri nasole ca sa ma imi placa acum acest soi de mancare.

Cat priveste ce ar corespunde preferintelor tale gastronomice, Mihai, as putea sa te flatez si sa zic ca dai dovada de un spirit clasic apolinic cu influente moderne, indraznete dar ancorate in real politik-ul traditiei. Ca esti un spirit evolutiv si pragmatic, insa care nu neglijeaza latura estetica. Totusi nu sunt convins ca optiunile gastronomice au prea mare legatura cu cele spirituale.

Salut Deathy, ma gandesc totusi ca si ghiveciul are rolul lui in lumea asta, in miezul ghiveciului malefic se afla o farama de cartof benefic. Yin si yang

Sa inteleg ca nu-ti place ghiveciul deoarece e o amestecatura haotica fara ordine si fara sens?
Toate teoriile despre univers, chiar si cele care par dizertatii filozofice fara vreun inteles au acelasi scop, de a oferi un sens existentei si de a demonstra exista unei ordini in ceea ce pare haotic. Fie ca acea ordine este Dumnezeu, alta divinitate, un numar sau o permutare ea exista si iti da incredere in momentele in care nu mai stii in ce sa crezi.
Ghiveciul e fara sens, fara scop, un haos omogenizat care semnifica fie supa primordiala fie descompunerea materiei la sfarsitul universului. In orice caz este ceva in afara universului ordonat, ceva in afara existentei.
Daca-mi permit sa-l citez pe Einstein, “God does not play dice”, Dumnezeu ( daca exista ) vrea ordine, deci ghiveciul este munca diavolului. Sa eradicam ghiveciul din lume!

sar de la metafora la realitate ; nu iti place ghiveciul pentru ca e o fiertura?
personal prefer gratarul in locul fierturii (rosiile , vinetele, dovleceii la gratar sunt mai bune fierte), prefer legumele crude asortate intr-o salata de vara in locul gratarului, si cea mai buna leguma e carnea

daca m-as intoarce la metafora, oare ce ar corespunde preferintelor mele?
